Prawn Vadai

200 gms soaked chana dal
50 gms grated coconut
3-4 finely chopped green chillies
1 tbsp soaked chana dal
1 tsp turmeric
1 prawn (for stuffing)
1 sliced onion
100 gms prawns
salt to taste
juice of 1 lemon
15 gms grated carrot
black pepper to taste
50 gms finely sliced cabbage
20 gms grated carrot
1 thinly sliced onion
20 gms grated coconut
15 gms chopped coriander
juice of 1 lemon (for salad)
tamarind sambal (for serving)

Grind 200 gms soaked chana dal into a fine paste.

Mix in 50 gms grated coconut and 3-4 finely chopped green chillies.

Add 1 tbsp soaked chana dal and 1 tsp turmeric, and mix the batter well.

Shape the batter into vadai with one prawn stuffed inside.

Fry in hot oil, and also make some plain vadai without stuffing and fry them as well.

Once fried, press by hand to crack them and fry them again to crisp them.

In a hot pan, add some oil, 1 sliced onion, 100 gms prawns, salt to taste, juice of 1 lemon, 15 gms grated carrot, and black pepper to taste, and sauté.

In a bowl, add 50 gms finely sliced cabbage, 20 gms grated carrot, 1 thinly sliced onion, 20 gms grated coconut, 15 gms chopped coriander, juice of 1 lemon, and crushed black pepper to taste, and mix well.

To serve, place vadai on a plate, put the prawns on top, and salad on the side, drizzle tamarind sambal over the vadai.
