Ingredients

  • 500g lamb or goat meat, cut into cubes
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. 2Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. 3Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. 4Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute.
  5. 5Add the meat cubes and cook until browned on all sides.
  6. 6Mix in chopped tomatoes, green chilies, and salt; cook until tomatoes soften.
  7. 7Add yogurt, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder; mix well.
  8. 8Cover and cook on low heat for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  9. 9Once the meat is tender, sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
