Traditionally served with fufu, a starchy side made from cassava or plantains, this dish embodies the warmth and hospitality of Ghanaian culture. Today, it is enjoyed both in homes and restaurants, with variations found across the region.

Mashed sweet potatoes provide similar texture with added nutrients, while mashed potatoes are more accessible.
Cut the salted beef into large chunks to help release salt.
Place the salted beef in a pot and cover with water.
Boil the salted beef for 10 minutes to reduce salt, repeating this process 2-3 times.
Boil the cow skin once with the salted beef for 10 minutes.
Drain the salted beef and cow skin, then place them in a clean pot.
Blend together 5 yellow onions, 1 purple onion, 4 shallots, ginger, and garlic cloves.
Add the blended mixture to the pot with the salted beef and cow skin.
Season the meat with seasoning and mix well, letting it marinate for 20 minutes without adding salt.
Boil hot water and add scotch bonnet peppers, ginger, and the three types of onions along with the Roma tomatoes to cook.
Grill the mackerel fish, seasoning lightly with salt before grilling.
Add the grilled mackerel to the soup pot.
Wait for the okra and cow skin to soften in the soup, indicating it's done.
Prepare fufu to serve with the soup.
