Mediterranean Meat Sambusak

Sambusak, a beloved dish in Lebanon and throughout the Mediterranean, has roots in Middle Eastern cuisine. Traditionally filled with spiced meats or vegetables, these pastries are often served at celebrations and gatherings. Each region has its own variations, showcasing local flavors and ingredients. Today, sambusak is enjoyed worldwide, often as a popular appetizer or snack at parties and events.
ground beef

all-purpose flour

Whole wheat flour adds fiber, while bread flour can be less expensive.
Add the spices (black pepper, cinnamon, allspice, and salt) to the ground beef in a bowl.
Finely chop the large onion and mix it with the ground beef and spices.
Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a frying pan over high heat.
Add the meat and onion mixture to the frying pan and sauté for about 5 minutes until the meat is cooked through.
Turn off the heat once the meat and onions are done cooking.
Cut the dough into two portions and roll it out on a floured surface.
Stuff the rolled dough with the meat and onion mixture.
Use the tip of a fork to seal the edges of the sambusak.
Heat oil in a frying pan over high heat until hot enough for frying.
Fry the sambusak in the hot oil until they are golden brown on both sides.
Remove the sambusak from the oil and let them cool until golden brown.
