This hearty meal typically features lamb or beef, layered with vegetables and baked to perfection, embodying the essence of comfort food. In modern times, Tava has gained popularity beyond Albania, with variations appearing in neighboring Balkan countries, each adding its unique twist to the classic recipe.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
Add diced lamb and brown on all sides.
Season with paprika, salt, and black pepper, stirring to combine.
Layer sliced potatoes, bell peppers, and tomatoes in a baking dish.
Place the browned lamb mixture on top of the vegetables.
Add bay leaves and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
Cover with foil and bake for an hour.
Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
