1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
3 tablespoons cooking oil
1 handful of cilantro leaves, chopped

Start by preparing the spices: pound together 10 to 15 curry leaves, 4 to 5 dried chilies, 6 to 7 cloves, and 15 small pieces of cinnamon stick.
