Byadgi Chilli/Kashmiri Chilli - 6-8 nos
Coriander Seeds - 1 tbsp
Cumin - 1 tsp
Black Peppercorn - ½ tsp
Tamarind - ½ lemon-sized portion
Coconut Oil - 2 tbsp
Onion (finely chopped) - 1 no
Green Chilli (slit) - 1 no
Tomato (finely chopped) - 1 no
Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Water - ½ Cup + 1 Cup
Sugar - 1 tsp
Coconut Milk (optional) - ½ Cup

Grind all the ingredients for the paste. Add water gradually, as needed, to form a smooth paste.

Heat oil in a pot and add the onion and green chilli. Saute until the onion turns translucent.

Add tomato, turmeric powder and salt. Saute for 3-4 minutes until the tomato softens.

Add the prepared masala and saute for 3-4 minutes, then add water and mix.

Then cover with a lid, reduce the flame to medium-low and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add water and sugar, and bring it to a boil.

Add the prawns and cook for 3-4 minutes, depending on the size of the prawns.

Optionally, you can add some coconut milk right before turning off the heat. Stir, remove from the stove and serve with steamed rice.
