Dal Dhokla

100 grams thur dal
1 tablespoon turmeric powder
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon coriander powder
1/2 tablespoon cumin seeds
a pinch of ajwain
50 grams wheat flour
2 tablespoons gram flour
2 dried red chilies
salt to taste
1 teaspoon oil
2 tomatoes
a little coriander leaves
a little curry leaves

Mix wheat flour, gram flour, salt, half a spoon of chili powder, and a pinch of ajwain to make a dough with chapati consistency and let it rest for a while after applying a little oil on top.

In a pressure cooker, add thur dal, turmeric powder, and chili powder, and cook until you hear about five whistles, then mash and keep aside with some water.

Chop the tomatoes and green chilies finely.

In a pan, heat oil, add cumin seeds and dried red chilies, and sauté until the cumin seeds are fragrant.

Add curry leaves and green chilies, sauté for a bit, then add chopped tomatoes and some salt, cooking until well mixed.

Add the remaining chili powder and coriander powder, then pour in the cooked dal mixture and bring to a boil.

While the dal is boiling, take the rested dough and cut it into small pieces like chapati, then add them to the boiling dal and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes.

Finally, add some water to adjust the consistency if needed, turn off the heat, and garnish with coriander leaves before serving.
