Traditionally enjoyed at fika, a coffee break, it embodies the Swedish love for simple yet indulgent treats. Its gooey texture and rich chocolate flavor have made it popular beyond Sweden, inspiring variations worldwide.
Beat 3 eggs lightly until combined and set aside.
In a bowl, add 145 grams of melted salted butter.
Add 360 grams of caster sugar to the bowl.
Add 120 grams of flour and 60 grams of cocoa powder to the mixture.
Mix all four ingredients together until well combined.
Incorporate the beaten eggs into the mixture until fully combined.
Optionally, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla essence and mix well.
Transfer the mixture into a lined 7-inch pan, leveling the top.
Bake in the oven at 107 degrees Celsius for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is crispy and the center is gooey.
Let the cake cool in the tin before demolding.
Carefully remove the excess baking paper from the cake.
Dust the top with icing sugar (optional) before serving.
