baking powder

🥗Healthier: yogurt

Yogurt provides leavening and moisture with added tang.

semolina

🥗Healthier: oat flour

💰Cheaper: cornmeal

Oat flour is healthier while cornmeal is often less expensive.

1

Take all-purpose flour in a bowl.

2

Add salt and oil into it and mix well.

3

Now start kneading the dough using 3/4th cup of water or as required. Make sure to add the water bit by bit.

4

Continue kneading the dough for almost 5 minutes or until smooth.

5

Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.

6

Knead the dough again for 1 minute.

7

Now grease a plate and put small-sized balls of the dough into it.

8

Cover the balls and let them rest for 15 minutes.

9

Now spread the doughs by pressing them gently outwards. Roll the sideways for an even puri.

10

Roll multiple puris and place them on a board. It’s always good to grease the board with oil a bit. Keep them covered until the time you begin frying.

11

Now preheat some oil into a deep pan and start dropping the puris while keeping the heat mediocre.

12

Wait for the puri to float in the oil and then gently press it into the oil from all sides.

13

Keep frying for around 15 to 20 seconds per side or until they’re nicely crisped from both sides.
