Its popularity has spread beyond the Netherlands, becoming a favorite in many countries.

Unroll the Pillsbury pie crust and let it come to room temperature.
Roll out the pie crust a bit more with a rolling pin.
Place the pie crust into the pie plate and pinch the edges to make it pretty.
Slice 7 Granny Smith apples really thin.
In a bowl, combine the sliced apples with 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour, a heaping teaspoon of apple pie spice, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to coat the apples.
Poke holes in the pie crust to allow air to escape while baking.
Add the apple mixture to the pie crust, ensuring it is well distributed.
In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1 stick of softened butter until crumbly using a pastry cutter.
Add 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and sugar to the crumb mixture and blend well until it resembles crumbs.
Spread the crumb topping over the apple filling in the pie crust.
Bake the pie in the oven at 350°F for 55 minutes.
After 55 minutes, turn off the oven and leave the pie in the oven for an additional 30 minutes to thicken the juices.
Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for an hour before serving.
