Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a cake pan.
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in vanilla extract and milk until combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Fold in ground spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
Sprinkle chopped almonds on top of the batter.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with water until smooth.
Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake before serving.
