Quick and Easy Homemade Waffles Recipe - How to Make Waffles from Scratch

Head to Bed Bath and Beyond to get a waffle iron if you don't have one.

In a big bowl, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients.

In a separate bowl, mix together 1 beaten egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 cup milk (you can also use a buttermilk and milk combination).

Pour the wet ingredients into the well of the dry ingredients and combine well.

Add 1/4 cup of vegetable oil (or any flavorless oil like safflower or canola) and stir until incorporated.

The batter should be a little thinner than pancake batter.

Preheat the waffle iron and use a measuring cup to scoop the batter onto the iron.

Close the lid of the waffle iron; the waffles may come out misshapen.

For a tip, if you cook the waffles a little on the pale side, you can freeze them to make homemade toaster waffles later.

Once done, use a fork to remove the waffles from the iron and serve.
