Apple compote is a sweet dish often enjoyed in various forms across Indian cuisine. It serves as a versatile accompaniment to both savory and sweet dishes, highlighting the natural sweetness of apples. Traditionally, it can be served as a dessert or a side dish, especially during festive occasions. Today, variations of apple compote are popular worldwide, often flavored with spices and served with pancakes or ice cream.

Honey adds natural sweetness and flavor.

Pumpkin pie spice is often less expensive.
Choose apples that are nice looking with no bruising.
Decide whether to peel the apples; the creator chooses to keep the skins on for fiber.
Use a melon ball tool to scoop out the seeds from the apples.
Remove the ends of the apples with a knife.
Cut the apples into big chunks, about six slices per half apple.
Repeat the cutting process with the remaining apples.
Place the chopped apples in a pot.
Add 1/3 cup of maple syrup to the pot with the apples.
Bring the mixture to a strong simmer, almost a boil, over medium-low heat.
Cover the pot while waiting for it to come to a strong simmer.
Once bubbling, reduce the heat to low and set a timer for 20 minutes.
If the liquid dries up, add a splash more of maple syrup or a little bit of water or apple juice to prevent sticking.
Cook until the apples are fork tender, checking after 20 minutes.
Taste the compote to check for sweetness and texture.
