2 tablespoons unsalted butter
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup cocoa powder
chocolate sprinkles
1

Set the heat to medium-low on the stovetop.

2

Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a nonstick pot (Dutch oven).

3

Open a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk and pour it into the pot, using a spatula to get it all out.

4

Stir the mixture continuously for about 15 to 25 minutes, ensuring not to walk away to prevent burning.

5

Sift 1/3 cup of cocoa powder to break up clumps and add it to the pot, stirring it in thoroughly.

6

Continue stirring until the mixture thickens, checking the consistency by seeing how long it takes to come back together when pushed aside.

7

Once thickened, remove the pot from heat and scrape the mixture onto a plate, spreading it out.

8

Refrigerate the plate for 30 minutes to set the mixture.

9

After chilling, take a small amount of butter and rub it on your palms to prevent sticking.

10

Scoop out a small amount of the mixture and roll it into a ball in your hands.

11

Roll the ball in chocolate sprinkles and place it in a paper cup.

12

Repeat the rolling and coating process until all the mixture is used up, adding more butter to your hands as needed.

13

Refrigerate the finished brigadeiros for an additional 15 to 20 minutes to firm up.
