Shape the mixture into patties, about the size of the buns.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
Alternatively, grill patties on a preheated grill for 4-5 minutes per side.
Melt cheese on top of patties during the last minute of cooking if desired.
Toast the buns on the grill or in the skillet until golden brown.
Assemble the burger by placing the patty on the bun, then adding tomato, lettuce, and pickles.
Serve with sides of your choice, such as fries or salad.
