3 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seed
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
2-3 dry chilli
curry leaves
1 tbsp chopped ginger
4-5 chopped garlic cloves
2-3 slit green chilli
1 cup chopped onion (shallot)
3-4 tbsp chilli powder (around 35-40g)
1 tbsp coriander powder (10g)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
3/4 ltr water
2-3 pieces gambooge (Malabar tamarind)
500g fish pieces (Spanish Seer Fish)
salt for taste
1 tbsp coconut oil

Heat oil in a clay pot and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, dry chillies, and curry leaves for tempering.

Once the tempering is done, add chopped ginger, chopped garlic, slit green chillies, and chopped onion. Sauté until the onion turns light golden brown.

Add chilli powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder to the onion mixture and sauté for 2 minutes.

Pour in water and add gambooge, then boil for 10 minutes.

Filter the gravy into a clay pot.

Boil the filtered gravy and add fish pieces and salt. Cook for 15-20 minutes.

Once done, add coconut oil and curry leaves on top and allow to cool down.
