Ingredients

  • 200g tempeh, sliced
  • 2 tbsp sambal oelek
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. 2Add the minced garlic and ginger, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. 3Add the sliced tempeh to the pan and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. 4In a small bowl, mix the sambal oelek, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and black pepper.
  5. 5Pour the sambal mixture over the tempeh in the pan, stirring to coat evenly.
  6. 6Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  7. 7Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onion.
  8. 8Serve hot with rice or as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 200g tempeh, sliced
  • 3 tbsp kicap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 red chili, sliced

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  2. 2Add the sliced tempeh and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. 3Remove the tempeh from the pan and set aside.
  4. 4In the same pan, add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. 5Add the minced garlic and sliced chili, and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  6. 6Return the tempeh to the pan and pour in the kicap manis, salt, and black pepper.
  7. 7Add the water and stir well to combine all ingredients.
  8. 8Cover the pan and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  9. 9Stir in the lime juice and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  10. 10Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
