Gather all ingredients and tools: rice, water, salt, canola oil, beef, broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, onion, garlic, sesame seeds, soy sauce, spatula, measuring spoons, liquid measuring cup, stainless steel measuring cups, pairing knife, cutting board, frying pan, covered saucepan.

In a 24 covered saucepan, combine 2 cups of white rice, 4 cups of water, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil.

Once boiling, reduce heat to simmer.
