Cut the green beans into pieces about three fingers long, removing any tough parts.
Boil the green beans in water for about 5 minutes until tender.
Add baking soda to the boiling water to maintain the green color of the beans.
After boiling, drain the green beans.
Chop 2 large cloves of garlic.
Chop a portion of the onion (not the whole onion) and a tomato.
Heat half a tablespoon of pork fat in a skillet over medium heat.
Sauté the garlic until fragrant.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
Add black pepper and salt to taste (approximately one teaspoon of salt).
Sauté for about 3 minutes, then add the chopped tomato and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
Remove the mixture from heat and serve.
