Wash toovar dal in water 2-3 times.

Pressure cook the toovar dal for 3 whistles.

Knead whole wheat flour into a soft dough using enough water.

Allow the pressure cooker to cool.

Open the pressure cooker and check the cooked toovar dal.

Heat ghee in a broad non-stick pan.

Add the cooked dal and mix well.

Add jaggery and mash with the back of the ladle while mixing.

Cook until the mixture thickens, about 10-13 minutes.

Allow the puran (stuffing) to cool.

Divide the stuffing into 15 equal portions.

Take one portion of the dough and roll it into a 100 mm. (4") diameter circle.

Place a portion of the stuffing in the center and fold the edges of the dough over the stuffing.

Roll again into a 100 mm. (4") diameter circle, ensuring the stuffing doesn't come out.

Heat a tava and cook the puran poli until golden brown on both sides.

Remove the puran poli and smear lots of ghee on top.
