1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup raisins (optional)
1 egg (optional)

1/4 cup buttermilk (for topping)
sugar (for sprinkling on top)

Add 4 cups of flour to a mixing bowl.

Add 4 tablespoons of sugar to the flour.

Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to the mixture.

Add 1 cup of cold buttermilk to the mixture.
