Spelt flour is nutritious and adds flavor.
In a bowl, add a big tablespoonful of treacle.
Mix the treacle with about 50-100 ml of buttermilk until well combined.
Sprinkle flour on the table to prevent sticking.
Add a handful of soda bread flour to the bowl with the treacle and buttermilk.
Mix the ingredients lightly with a spoon until a sticky dough forms.
Scrape the dough out onto the floured table.
Flour your hands and gently roll the dough in flour to prevent sticking.
Flatten the dough slightly with the heel of your hand, keeping its shape.
Cut the dough into quarters, known as 'fars'.
Use an egg lifter to transfer the pieces to a griddle.
Cook the fars on the griddle for about 3-4 minutes until they rise by at least 50%.
Turn the fars over and cook for another 3-4 minutes until they have a deep sandy color.
Harn the fars for about 15 seconds on each side to finish cooking.
Cut into the bread with a serrated knife to check the inside.
