Barbados Meat Rolls

Originating from Barbados, Meat Rolls are a beloved snack often enjoyed at gatherings and celebrations. These savory pastries reflect the island's culinary heritage, combining influences from African, British, and Caribbean cuisines. Today, they are popular not only in Barbados but also in various Caribbean communities worldwide, often served at parties or as street food.
ground beef

Flaxseed meal is a vegan option that binds ingredients effectively.
Heat ground beef in a saucepan to remove excess oil.
Grind onion, red and green bell peppers, celery, carrot, fresh thyme, dry thyme, and scallions in a food processor.
Add ground beef to the mixture and blend.
Transfer the mixture back to the saucepan and let it sit for a few minutes.
Add all-purpose seasoning, paprika, dry parsley flakes, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce to the meat mixture.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and butter.
Let the meat cool before assembling the rolls.
Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.
Cut the pastry into desired shapes using a pizza cutter.
Place a spoonful of meat mixture in the center of each pastry piece.
Seal the pastry by folding over and rolling the edges.
Prepare an egg wash with egg and water to seal the pastry.
Optionally, add pepperoni, ham, or cheese to the filling before sealing.
