Chicken Curry with Tomato and Potato

Coat chicken pieces with turmeric using tongs.
Wash rice until the water runs clear, soak, and drain.
Add rice to a pot, cover with water about 2 centimeters above the rice, and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, cover the pot and reduce heat to low for 20 minutes without uncovering.
Peel potatoes and cut into bite-sized pieces.
Peel a 5 cm piece of ginger using a teaspoon.
Make a paste of 5 cloves of garlic and the ginger using a mortar and pestle.
Toast 1.5 tablespoons of cumin seeds until they change color.
Heat vegetable oil in a pot and add onions and toasted cumin seeds, frying until onions turn brown.
Add chopped potatoes to the pot.
Add 1.5 cups of water and a can of whole peeled tomatoes to the pot, stir well.
Cover and boil gently for about 15 minutes until potatoes are tender.
Season with salt to taste and add fresh coriander before serving.
