Add sliced sweet onion and sauté until translucent.

Add sliced green and red bell peppers and green peas; cook until slightly softened.
Pour in chicken stock and bring to a simmer.
Add turmeric powder, Chinese five spices, chilli or paprika powder, and sugar; stir to combine.
Mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry; add to the sauce to thicken.
Season with salt to taste and garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
Serve hot with boiled or plain rice.
