Crush the biscott until they are a fine powder, about 6 tablespoons.
Finely chop the onions and add them to the ground beef.
Add 6 tablespoons of biscott or breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture.
Add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of mustard, and freshly grated nutmeg to the mixture.
Mix all ingredients together by hand, ensuring even distribution without overworking the meat.
Shape the mixture into large meatballs weighing about 150-175 grams each, using a large ice cream scooper for even sizing.
Prepare the sauce by melting butter in a pan and adding 250 milliliters (1 cup) of hot water, 2 tablespoons of tomato puree, 1 tablespoon of sambal, and 4 tablespoons of ketchup.
Brown the meatballs in batches in the butter until they have a crusty outside, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
After browning, add the sauce to the meatballs in the pan and let it simmer for 30-45 minutes.
