Ingredients

  • โ—1 block (14 oz) firm tofu
  • โ—4 sheets nori seaweed
  • โ—2 tbsp soy sauce
  • โ—1 tbsp sesame oil
  • โ—1 tsp rice vinegar
  • โ—1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • โ—1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • โ—1/4 tsp salt
  • โ—1/4 tsp black pepper
  • โ—1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • โ—1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap it in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for about 30 minutes.
  2. 2Once pressed, cut the tofu into rectangular slices, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. 3In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic powder, ginger powder, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  4. 4Place the tofu slices in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. 5While the tofu is marinating, cut the nori sheets into strips that are wide enough to wrap around the tofu slices.
  6. 6After marinating, take a slice of tofu and wrap it with a strip of nori, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat with the remaining tofu slices.
  7. 7Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on the nori-wrapped tofu for added texture.
  8. 8Place the wrapped tofu in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the nori is crispy and the tofu is heated through.
  9. 9Remove from the skillet and garnish with chopped green onion before serving.
  10. 10Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.
