Southeast AsianMYmain
40 min
medium
2 servings
Servings4
2 whole snapper fish, cleaned and scaled
2 large banana leaves
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
2 red chilies, sliced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup green onions, chopped

Quantities are estimated based on standard recipes for your convenience. The actual ingredients used in this video are accurate.

1

Preheat the steamer or prepare a pot with water for steaming.

2

Rinse the banana leaves and cut them into large pieces that can wrap around the fish.

3

In a bowl, mix the ginger, garlic, soy sauce, lime juice, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.

4

Rub the marinade all over the snapper, ensuring it gets inside the cavity as well.

5

Place a few slices of red chilies, cilantro, and green onions inside the cavity of each fish.

6

Lay the snapper on a piece of banana leaf and wrap it tightly, securing it with kitchen twine or toothpicks if necessary.

7

Repeat the wrapping process for the second fish.

8

Place the wrapped fish in the steamer and steam for about 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

9

Carefully unwrap the banana leaves and serve the fish hot, garnished with additional cilantro and green onions if desired.
