1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of sugar, 1/4 cup of warm or room temperature water, and 1 teaspoon of dry active yeast. Let it sit for about five minutes to bloom the yeast.

2

Add 1 cup of warm water and 1/8 cup of extra virgin olive oil to the yeast mixture.

3

Incorporate 2.5 cups of bread flour and 1 teaspoon of salt into the mixture using a stand mixer with a dough hook on low speed for about 5-10 minutes until a dough ball forms.

4

Dust a clean work surface with flour and remove the dough from the mixer. Knead the dough to form a round shape.

5

Roll out the dough to fit a 9x13 inch Pyrex pan, which should be lightly oiled with olive oil.

6

Place the dough in the pan, level it out, and cover it. Let it rise on the counter for about 1.5 hours until doubled in size.

7

Prepare the dipping sauce by combining 1 can of tomato sauce, 2 tablespoons of dried oregano, 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 tablespoon of dried basil, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Mix until it simmers and thickens, then remove from heat.

8

Make the parmesan garlic topping by mixing 1/4 cup of parmesan, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.

9

After the dough has risen, cut it into breadsticks using a bench scraper.

10

Spray the breadsticks with nonstick butter flavored spray and bake in a preheated oven at 475°F for 10 minutes.

11

Remove the breadsticks from the oven, spray with more butter spray, and return to the oven for another 5 minutes until done.

12

Remove from the pan and place on a wire cooling rack.
