Combine warm water and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients; stir until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
Place the dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.
Place the strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper; brush with beaten egg.
Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese, black pepper, and cornmeal over the breadsticks.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
