3 cups of Bread Flour (390g)
1/4 cup of softened or melted butter (55g)
2 Tbsp of granulated sugar (30g)
1 cup + 1 tbsp of water (250ml)
1 tsp of active dry yeast (4g)
1 and 1/2 tsp of salt (6g)
2 tbsp of melted butter (30g)
pinch of garlic powder or garlic salt (1g)

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.

Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long. Twist each strip and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

If using, beat the egg and brush it over the breadsticks. Sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan cheese if desired.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
