3 bay leaves

1 tablespoon dry basil

Heat a pot until hot.

Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the pot.

Add 1 chopped onion to the pot and sauté to give flavor.

Add 1 teaspoon of crushed garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds.

Deglaze the pot with 2 tablespoons of white wine.

Add 1 can of diced tomatoes to the pot and stir.

Add 3 bay leaves, 1 tablespoon of oregano, 1 tablespoon of dry basil, and 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme to the pot.

Cook on medium-low heat for 15 to 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, check the sauce; it should be thicker with fully cooked tomatoes.

Add 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, salt, and pepper to taste.

Cook for 2 more minutes uncovered.

Remove the sauce from heat and blend it up with 1/4 cup of water until smooth.
