Fresh tuna is leaner, while sardines are often less expensive.

Drain the albacore tuna in water and place it in a mixing bowl.

Break up the tuna with a fork.

Squeeze half a lemon into the bowl, using your hand to catch any seeds.

Chop 1 celery stalk into small pieces and add it to the bowl.

If using, add 1 tablespoon of fresh dill to the mixture.

Add a little bit of salt to taste.

Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

Toast the bagel until hot.

Butter the toasted bagel before adding the tuna salad on top.

Spoon the tuna salad onto the buttered bagel and slice it in half for easier eating.
