Cultural Context

The Full English Breakfast has its roots in the hearty meals of the 19th century, often enjoyed by the working class and later popularized as a staple in British culture. Traditionally served in homes and cafes, it symbolizes a leisurely start to the day, often enjoyed on weekends. Today, variations exist worldwide, with many countries adopting their own twists on this classic breakfast.

1

For each serving, gather 2 pork sausages, 2 rashes of bacon, 2 eggs, some mushrooms, baked beans, and vegetable oil for frying.

2

Wash and slice the mushrooms, then add them to some preheated vegetable oil in a separate frying pan. Stir and toss them on gentle heat for about 5 minutes, then set aside on a warm plate.

3

Preheat vegetable oil in the frying pan. Once the sausages have been frying for 8 minutes, add the bacon rashes to the same pan and turn them every minute or two.

4

As soon as the bacon is underway, put the baked beans on the stove over gentle heat, stirring them frequently.

5

In another frying pan, replenish with oil and heat on medium for the eggs. Crack 1 or 2 eggs into the pan, transferring it to the hottest part of the stove if necessary. Keep stirring the beans.

6

To cook the eggs properly, use a spatula to splash hot oil over the eggs until the yolks go opaque, indicating they are cooked.

7

Plate everything together, including the mushrooms, and serve with tomato ketchup or brown sauce for the finishing touch.
