Prepare hamburger seasoning by mixing paprika, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Peel and core 4 medium onions, flattening the top and bottom to help them sit upright.
Chop the removed onion core into small pieces and set aside.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan and add the chopped onion pieces, cooking until soft and caramelized.
In a separate pan, cook 1/2 pound of ground beef, adding 1/2 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce and 1 1/2 teaspoons of the hamburger seasoning while cooking.
Once the ground beef is cooked, remove it from the heat and set aside.
Stuff the cored onions with the cooked ground beef mixture, then top with the caramelized onions and a handful of gruyère cheese.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and place the stuffed onions in a tin foil pan.
Bake the stuffed onions in the oven for 35 minutes, checking for doneness.
After 35 minutes, remove the onions from the oven and top with additional gruyère cheese, then return to the oven for another 10 minutes to melt the cheese.
