1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon whole cumin
3 bay leaves
Brazilian smoked sausage

Soak and drain black beans overnight.

Boil salted dried meat and smoked pork ribs in a large pot for 10 minutes, then drain the water.

Dice 2 onions and prepare 1 tablespoon of minced garlic.

Toast 1 teaspoon of whole cumin in a dry pan for 2-3 minutes.

Add fat to the pot, then add the diced onions and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and toasted cumin to the pot.

Add the drained meats back to the pot along with the soaked black beans.

Cover with 8 cups of hot water and add 3 bay leaves.

Cook uncovered for 1-2 hours until beans are soft, then add the whole smoked sausage.
