Start by gathering all ingredients: orange, ginger, cloves, allspice, hibiscus petals, sugar, and water.

Cut a small piece of cheesecloth or muslin and place some cloves and allspice inside it. Tie it up with string to create a spice packet.

Zest the orange using a peeler and then cut it in half to juice it, adding both the zest and juice to the mixture.
