2 cups basmati rice

1 tablespoon ginger
2 medium carrots
2 medium potatoes
1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon coriander
1 teaspoon cardamom
1 teaspoon cloves
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
4 cups water
3 tablespoons oil
1 cup raisins

Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat until shimmering.

Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
