Today, variations abound, with some adding vegetables or different spices to suit personal tastes.

Ground turkey is leaner, while ground chicken is often less expensive.

Nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavor with fewer calories, while processed cheese is often cheaper.
Heat oil in a saucepan.
Add diced onions and soften on high heat for a few minutes.
Add half the salt and cook until onions are golden brown (about 10-15 minutes).
Add cumin seeds and cook for a couple more minutes until onions are golden brown.
If making for children, add chili powder or black pepper; mix well and lower heat to avoid burning.
Add minced meat and brown on high heat, breaking down lumps with a wooden spoon.
Once meat is brown, add the rest of the salt and continue cooking until fully browned.
Add garlic granules and ginger powder, breaking down any remaining lumps.
Cook on high heat to dry out excess water from the meat (about 2 minutes).
Add 250 milliliters of boiled water, mix well, and simmer with a lid for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, increase heat to evaporate liquid and add half the pasta sauce; mix well.
Add diced bell peppers and cook to soften for a few minutes.
Add garam masala and coriander powder; mix well and continue cooking on medium-high heat.
After a few minutes, add chopped green chilies, green peas, and sweet corn; mix well and cook until green peas are softened (about 2-3 minutes).
Once vegetables are cooked, add the rest of the pasta sauce and mix well; simmer for 5 minutes.
In a deep saucepan, bring water to a boil, add oil and salt, and mix well.
Once boiling, add pasta and cook according to packet instructions (about 6-8 minutes).
Drain pasta and set aside in a separate bowl.
Return to the mince filling and add chopped cherry tomatoes; mix well and cook for 1 minute.
Add half the drained pasta and mix well with the mince and vegetables.
Add the rest of the pasta and mix well.
Add oregano and mozzarella cheese; mix well to melt cheese evenly.
Turn off heat and finish with freshly chopped coriander.
