This dish reflects the Jain commitment to vegetarianism and the use of fresh, wholesome ingredients. The addition of basil and the omission of garlic make it a fragrant and flavorful dip that resonates with health-conscious eaters. Soak chickpeas overnight before using them.
Add soaked chickpeas to the mixture.
Add garlic to the mixture.
Add basil leaves to the mixture.
Add tahini sauce to the mixture.
Season with salt to taste.
Add white pepper powder (or black pepper if preferred).
Add chickpea soak water to help blend the mixture.
Grind the mixture until smooth.
Check the consistency with a spoon and blend again if needed.
Transfer the pesto hummus to a serving bowl.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
