Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract; mix until a dough forms.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
In a separate bowl, combine sour cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
Roll out two-thirds of the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit a pie dish.
Place the rolled dough into the pie dish, pressing it into the bottom and sides.
Pour the cherry mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
Roll out the remaining dough and cut into strips to create a lattice top.
Arrange the dough strips over the cherries in a lattice pattern.
Trim and crimp the edges of the pie crust to seal.
Bake for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden and the cherries are bubbling.
Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Dust with powdered sugar before slicing.
