Kelewele is a beloved street food from Ghana, made from ripe plantains seasoned with a blend of spices. Traditionally enjoyed as a snack or side dish, it reflects the vibrant flavors of West African cuisine. Today, Kelewele has gained popularity beyond Ghana, often served at parties and gatherings, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the region.

Grate some onions.
Add kelewele seasoning and salt to taste.
Add some water and optional olive oil, then stir everything together.
Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 to 10 minutes to intensify the flavors.
Peel and cut the washed sweet plantains.
Mix the plantains with the marinade and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes to marinate.
Transfer the mixture into the air fryer, ensuring the pieces are not touching each other for proper air circulation.
Bake in the air fryer at 400 degrees for about 8 minutes.
Turn each piece around and bake for an additional 8 minutes or until golden brown.
