Traditionally enjoyed at social gatherings, these skewers are often served with spicy sauces and accompanied by rice or flatbreads. The dish highlights the rich flavors of local spices and fresh ingredients. Today, Kyikyinga is celebrated not only in Ghana but also in various West African communities and beyond, adapting to local tastes and preferences.

Wash the meat with baking soda and salt to help tenderize it.
Cut the meat against the grain into thin slices.
Poke the meat with a tenderizer for extra tenderness.
Cut onions into cubes.
Soak skewers in water to prevent burning during cooking.
Thread the meat and onions onto the skewers, alternating between them.
In a bowl, mix coconut oil, all-purpose seasoning, suya spice, and salt into a paste.
Brush one side of the kebabs with the seasoned oil and place it seasoned side down on the grill.
Season the other side of the kebabs with the seasoned oil.
Grill the kebabs, turning them until they reach the desired brownness, brushing with seasoned oil as needed.
If using a grill pan, smother the kebabs with seasoned oil and place them in the pan to achieve similar results.
If no grill pan is available, use a griddle on medium heat to cook the kebabs, following the same process.
