Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. 1In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water.
  2. 2Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. 3Once the sugar is dissolved, bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. 4If using, add the lemon juice to the mixture and stir well.
  5. 5Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes until it slightly thickens.
  6. 6Remove the saucepan from heat and let the syrup cool.
  7. 7Once cooled, transfer the syrup to a clean glass jar or bottle.
  8. 8Store the sugar syrup in the refrigerator for up to a month.
