2 garlic cloves
900 grams/2 pounds pinto beans/small black beans
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp chopped bacon
4.5 dl/2 cups water
Salt, to taste
4 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp chopped onion
4.5 dl/2 cups long grain rice
7 dl/3 cups water

Soak the beans overnight or for several hours, then drain.

In a pot, heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil and sauté the chopped bacon until crispy.

Add the garlic cloves and chopped onion, cooking until the onion is translucent.

Add the soaked beans and 4.5 dl of water, season with salt, and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer until beans are tender, adding more water if necessary.

In a separate pot, heat 4 tbsp of vegetable oil and add the rice, stirring for a few minutes.

Add 7 dl of water and 2 tsp of salt to the rice, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover until rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
