Butter both sides of the bread slices.

Use cookie cutters to cut shapes out of the center of the bread.

Preheat a griddle and melt about 1 tablespoon of butter on it.

Lower the heat to medium once the butter is melted.

Place the buttered bread onto the hot griddle and crack an egg into the center of each piece.

Wait for the egg to start to set up before flipping carefully.

Flip the bread over to cook the other side of the egg.

Add butter to the cut-out pieces of bread to cook them faster.

Cook until the desired doneness of the egg is reached, either over easy or over medium.

Optionally, place shredded cheese on the plate and put the toast on top to show the design, or add cheese on top of the toast if preferred.
