Ingredients

  • 2 cups grated fresh coconut
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (cashews, almonds)
  • a pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat.
  2. 2Add the grated coconut and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. 3Pour in the milk and mix well, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. 4Add the sugar and stir continuously until it dissolves completely.
  5. 5Add the cardamom powder and a pinch of salt, mixing well.
  6. 6Continue to cook the mixture, stirring frequently, until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  7. 7Once thickened, add the chopped nuts and mix well.
  8. 8Transfer the mixture to a greased plate or tray, spreading it evenly.
  9. 9Allow it to cool for a few minutes, then cut into squares or diamond shapes.
  10. 10Let it cool completely before serving.
