In a saucepan, combine egg yolks, condensed milk, and salt, and mix together.
Turn on the heat and stir continuously until the mixture thickens, avoiding scrambled eggs.
Add melted butter to the thickened custard and mix until smooth.
Let the custard cool down while preparing the meringue.
Combine 3/4 cup white sugar with 1 tablespoon cornstarch and sift together.
In a mixing bowl, beat 8 egg whites with cream of tartar until frothy.
Gradually add the sifted sugar mixture while continuing to beat the egg whites until stable peaks form.
Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
Spread the meringue evenly onto a baking pan lined with wax paper.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before flipping it over onto another piece of wax paper.
Spread the cooled custard over the meringue and roll it into a log shape while it's still warm.
Let the rolled dessert rest until set before serving.
