Easy Hummus Recipe (Better than Store-Bought)

Hummus has its roots in the Levant region, particularly Lebanon, where it is a staple in many households. Traditionally served as a mezze, it brings people together, often enjoyed with pita bread or fresh vegetables. Today, hummus has gained international popularity, with countless variations and flavors appearing worldwide.
Ingredients
- ●chickpeas
- ●tahini
- ●lemon juice
- ●garlic
- ●olive oil
- ●cumin
- ●salt
- ●water
- ●paprika
- ●fresh parsley
Instructions
- 1Soak chickpeas in water overnight.
- 2Drain and rinse chickpeas, then place in a pot with fresh water.
- 3Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 1-1.5 hours.
- 4Drain the chickpeas and reserve some cooking liquid.
- 5In a food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and cumin.
- 6Blend until smooth, adding reserved cooking liquid as needed to reach desired consistency.
- 7Season with salt to taste and blend again.
- 8Transfer hummus to a serving bowl.
- 9Drizzle olive oil on top and sprinkle with paprika.
- 10Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

- ●2-4 tablespoons olive oil
- ●1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- 1Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until golden brown.
- 2Remove the toasted sesame seeds from the skillet and let them cool for a few minutes.
- 3Transfer the cooled sesame seeds to a food processor.
- 4Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and salt to the food processor.
- 5Blend the mixture on high speed until it becomes a smooth paste, scraping down the sides as needed.
- 6If the tahini is too thick, add more olive oil, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
- 7Taste and adjust the salt if necessary.
- 8Once smooth, transfer the tahini to a clean jar or container.
- 9Store in the refrigerator for up to a month.

- ●2 tbsp olive oil
- ●1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

- 1In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 2If using, add garlic powder and dried herbs to the dry ingredients and mix well.
- 3Gradually add water and olive oil to the dry mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- 4Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 2-3 minutes until smooth.
- 5Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each piece into a flat circle about 1/4 inch thick.
- 6Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with olive oil.
- 7Cook each flatbread in the skillet for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 8Remove from the skillet and keep warm while you cook the remaining flatbreads.
- 9Serve warm with your choice of dips or toppings.
